"This report is written in a breezy style in prose which sometimes borders on the lyrical. The enthusiasm of the authors for the physical and human environment of the Mount Lavinia Beach is palpable. They seem to enjoy the children, the dogs, the men and women, and the sun, sand and breezes with a sort of gay abandon. This study proves the lie to Bishop Heber's 'unchristian' libel of our people when he said of Ceylon in his celebrated hymn that it is an isle with 'spicy breezes' where 'every prospect pleases and only man is vile. ' The authors agree that 'every prospect pleases' and that the breezes are indeed spicy, but not with the 'vile' part of the hymn. Enough said. Read the report and see for yourself. ''
