The book "Rethinking Twentieth-century Art History" ("Преосмисляйки историите на изкуствата през ХХ век") contains presentations of Bulgarian and foreign participants in international conferences under a project pertaining to the specifics of twentieth-century art history.

The articles in this volume present issues discussed during the International conference ‘Rethinking Histories of Arts in the 20th Century’ held on 26 and 27 June 2015 within the framework of the project conceptualized by a team at the Institute of Art Studies on the theme ‘Bulgarian 20th Century in Arts and Culture’, supported by the National Science Fund. The conference draws critical attention to methodological questions in relation to the idea concerning possible current approaches in the construction of an integral historical account on different arts (including literature, music, theatre, cinema, fine art and architecture).
